greenhouse

Great start to May - Shoutout to Wayne!

We have had a stretch of beautiful weather lately and we took complete advantage of it. We put several more crops in the ground such as watermelon radishes, swiss chard and arugula AND Wayne finished the greenhouse! (yayayayay!)

This is so exciting for us because now we have a place to store our gardening needs such as gloves, baskets, seeds, organic sprays, shears, etc. and more importantly we are able to start our seedlings earlier and get a faster rotation on our crops. It is fully equipped with electricity and we have a spicket right out front! That means no more walking back and forth to our other spicket near the entrance of the garden. Big ups to Wayne for working so hard on making our dream-greenhouse.

VEGGIE UPDATE:
Right now we are just beginning to see collards, kale and arugula coming up and it's all looking BEAUTIFUL! We expect first harvest to be the last wee in May/First week in June.

Look out for our newsletter to grab your basket!

Kale heads that went to seed look like broccolini and taste sweet and tender. Harvested a bunch of these for dinner - yum!

Our new (almost) Greenhouse!

Winter dragged on through March here and we are DEFINITELY ready for Spring! Wayne has been single-highhandedly assembling our brand new greenhouse (!!!!); we had hoped it would be done by now but Sandy derailed the project for a while.  Nonetheless, we've been growing our seedlings indoors with some nifty grow lights and they are looking gorgeous (pics below). The greenhouse will be in action this summer...can't wait to share the finished project pics with you all!

The greenhouse skeleton - can't you just imagine it finished and full of greens?

Some of the panels being placed on the greenhouse roof. They are plastic which is much safer with all of our tall trees around.
